Analysis of Physiological Status in Response to Water Deficit of Spelt (Triticum aestivum ssp. spelta) Cultivars in Reference to Common Wheat (Triticum aestivum ssp. vulgare)

چکیده

Climate change, including decreasing rainfall, makes cultivating cereals more difficult. Drought stress reduces plant growth and most all yields. On the other hand, consumers’ interest in ancient wheat varieties, spelt, is growing. The aim of this work to compare response drought between spelt (Triticum aestivum ssp. spelta) common vulgare). Six cultivars from different European countries ‘Bogatka’ as a reference were chosen for research. photosynthesis process, chlorophyll fluorescence, relative water content, content free proline anthocyanins well-watered drought-stressed plants measured. It was shown that ‘Franckenkorn’ ‘Badengold’ much resistant deficit than even wheat. A slight reduction CO2 assimilation (by 27%) no transpiration rate, with simultaneous intensive (eighteen times fold increase) accumulation (increase by 222%) along increase lipid peroxidation level (1.9%) revealed prove cultivar can cope be effectively cultivated areas limited abundance.

Gluten proteins from spelt (Triticum aestivum ssp. spelta) cultivars: A rheological and size-exclusion high-performance liquid chromatography study

The aim of this study was to understand the chemistry of spelt (Triticum aestivum ssp. spelta) gluten in relation to its quality, to classify European spelt cultivars based on gluten quality, and to compare their protein compositions with those of modern wheats. Gluten quality of two sets of 25 spelt cultivars was studied using dynamic oscillatory and creep tests, an SDS sedimentation test, moi...

Transfer of Soft Kernel Texture from Triticum aestivum to Durum Wheat, Triticum turgidum ssp. durum

Durum wheat (Triticum turgidum ssp. durum) is a leading cereal grain whose primary use is the production of semolina and pasta. Its rich culinary relationship to humans is related, in part, to its very hard kernel texture. This very hard texture is due to the loss of the Puroindoline genes that were eliminated during the allopolyploid formation of T. turgidum approximately 0.5 million years ago...

Vernalisation Response of Some Winter Wheat Cultivars (Triticum aestivum L.)

For 17 cultivars of winter wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) different vernalisation and photoperiod responses were detected. The effect of photoperiod sensitivity was not significantly changed by vernalisation; different vernalisation responses were probably due to the presence of multiple alleles at Vrn loci. The delay in heading depended on the vernalisation deficit exponentially: y = parameter (...

Chromosomal distribution of pTa-535, pTa-86, pTa-713, 35S rDNA repetitive sequences in interspecific hexaploid hybrids of common wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) and spelt (Triticum spelta L.)

Fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH) relies on fluorescent-labeled probes to detect specific DNA sequences in the genome, and it is widely used in cytogenetic analyses. The aim of this study was to determine the karyotype of T. aestivum and T. spelta hybrids and their parental components (three common wheat cultivars and five spelt breeding lines), to identify chromosomal aberrations in the...

THE RESPONSE OF FOLIAR PROTEINS IN TWO WHEAT (TRITICUM AESTIVUM) CULTIVARS TO SALT STRESS

Effect of various NaCl treatments (0, 50, 100, 200, and 300 mM) at different growth and development stages (tillering, boot swellen, flowering and anthesis) in two wheat cultivars (Ghods: salt – sensitive, Boolani: salt – resistant) on SDS-PAGE electrophoretic pattern of leaf proteins was studied under greenhouse conditions. Generally, in response to salinity treatments, the decrease in protein...
